Amana Dishwashers

Amana Appliances: Where Quality, Functionality and Style Come Together

Amana Dishwashers are some of the most affordable on the market. Ranging in price from as low as $299 going up to $499, these units will provide you years of trouble-free service for almost half the cost of some of the competing brands.

The Amana company has been around for close to 70 years and was founded by George Foerstner in Amana, Iowa. Amana was mainly known for its line of refrigerators. But soon expanded into making a number of other kitchen appliances.

Amana became a household name due to their RADARANGE microwave ovens which were introduced in 1954. Amana was acquired by Maytag in 2001, and have since become a part of the Whirlpool Corporation.

Whirlpool has thus far managed to retain the Amana mark of quality as it is now responsible for the manufacture of Amana products.

Top Features of Amana Dishwashers

Dishwashers made by Amana have a number of unique features that make them extremely desirable units to consider. Here are just of a few standouts:

  1. Energy Star Qualified: These units are Energy Star Qualified which means they will save on both water and energy. (Note: Be on the lookout for REBATES for Energy Star Qualified appliances offered up by most major retailers)

  2. Twice As Nice Silverware Baskets: Exclusive to Amana, these "silverware baskets" allow you to move the silverware to where ever it fits within the rack. Allowing more space for some of your larger dishware pieces.

  3. Antimicrobial Component Protection: It may seem like a small feature, but to have anti-microbial protection for silverware baskets keeps strange odors from emanating from your dishwasher -- especially if you tend to leave dirty dishes in your dishwasher for awhile before running the unit.

  4. Tall Tub Interiors: The taller the interior tub, the more you're able to put inside and the more you're able to clean with each wash. The Dishwashers from Amana have some of the tallest interior tubs in their price range.

What You May NOT Know About Amana Dishwashers

When Maytag bought Amana and then subsequently Whirlpool bought Amana, there were a lot of models fulfilling the same purpose. So, many of the Amana models were ultimately discontinued.

In fact, Amana currently has only a handful of dishwasher models available. THREE to be exact, but each are available in black, white or stainless.
